Environmental Officer - County Kerry. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB. To ensure that the Environmental Management function at this pharmaceutical plant is maintained on an on-going basis in conformance with the Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001 and Corporate and Client Requirements. Interested applicants should have a Degree in Science or Engineering and should have at least 2 years’ experience, ideally in industry. The position requires the following skills: • Excellent communication skills in writing, presentations and interpersonal communication. • Developed teamwork skills. • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office. • Ability to manage a number of projects and prioritize tasks. • Commitment to continuous learning. • Good knowledge of Environmental Legislation, Industry Guidance and Codes of Practice. • Good attention to detail. • Practical: Client and solution focused. Competencies: • Waste Management and recycling – Best practice for handling, storage, transport, treatment, records etc. • Waste Water Treatment – operation, maintenance, sampling and analysis, trouble shooting. • Environmental Management Systems – ISO 14001. • Environmental Monitoring and Supervision of Monitoring. • Management of Nature reserve. MAIN DUTIES. 1. Complying with all relevant procedures and policies and reviewing and updating them when appropriate, in line with corporate document control. 2. Ensuring Environmental Management System is maintained in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 14001 Standard and corporate requirements. 3. Ensuring EMS objectives and targets are implemented in a prompt and effective manner. 4. Ensuring the operation of the Waste Water Treatment Plant in accordance with the Discharge License. 5. Operation of the Waste Management System in accordance with the relevant regulations. 6. Maintaining the Environmental Monitoring Programme. 7. Compiling and reporting on site Environmental KPIs. 8. Compiling data and reporting Corporate Environmental data. 9. Promoting Environmental Awareness and new initiatives, both in house and within the community, e.g. local Tidy Towns, and local schools. 10.
